Lack of updates

May 24th, 2007 No Comments »

Hey
Sorry for the lack of updates as of late. I blame school for that, since it’s exam-period and everything. I do however have some updates to present quite soon.
The favorite hubs are complete (as far as I know :-P), and I’ve added a new Transfer-tab, where you can see all the transfers in a more pleasing way.
So to hopefully keep the hope up in some of you, here are some screenshots:

The new transfer interface

(Click for a bigger picture. Note; this is not the final interface, and it will probably change a bit or two.)

The favorite hubs interface

I’ve also added a new settings-tab where you can change to port and password on the server. And the server will use those settings the next time it starts.

And as usual a lot of bug fixes. Though, like I said before, it won’t be out for another week or so since school is taking up so much of my time :-(

Updates & the waiting

March 29th, 2007 4 Comments »

Hey,

I’ve just updated Wordpress to the latest version, so if the site were down for some time today, it was because of that.
Either way, I’m having some troubles with the new Search-interface, it’s going forward, but quite slow :-(. I will probably release it when it’s done, as Alpha 3.5 or something, since it will need a lot of bug-testing.
When that is done I’m gonna start adding this:

  • Favorite Hubs
  • A password-dialog will show when a hub needs a password
  • A dialog for changing the settings on the server
  • A refined transfer viewer

And probably a lot of bug fixes and so on.

But the sad part is that I have a lot to in school right now, so I won’t be able to code on MultiDC++ for a week :-(

But after that I will be back, and faster than ever :-)

Cheers

Alpha 2

February 6th, 2007 3 Comments »

So I’ve finally uploaded the source for Alpha 2.
I’m quite happy with the release except that I didn’t manage to get the GUI to launch the multidcppserver with any problems, so you still have to start the server manually.
I’m currently uploading a .dmg that contains MultiDC++ and multidcppserver, both as Universal Binarys. So if you don’t wanna help out, you should just try that package out instead.

After this I’m gonna add the Filelist Browser, so you hopefully can start using this client somewhat normally.

Anyway, please report any bugs to the bug-tracker or send me an e-mail.

Edit: I forgot to add endian independence to the server, so it could not send any useful information to the client, but that should be fixed now. So if you downloaded the package, please re-download!

Cheers

More previews

Hey again,

So, everything is working great on my PowerBook, and I’m quite sure it works for others too. But I’m gonna try it on my friends Intel Mac in the next couple of days just to be sure. I’m also working on so that the server starts automatically with MultiDC++, so you don’t have to start it manually unless you wanna run it on another computer.

I will also upload a .dmg with MultiDC++ and the multidcppserver so you don’t have to compile it.

Anyways, while I’m waiting to test the client on a Intel Mac, I started rewriting the preferences dialog, so it resembles the ones in OS X more, here’s a preview:

Before you see it I gotta apologize for my poor artist skills, hence the ugly icons, they will hopefully be better with time.

The new preferences dialog

And here’s a preview of the Download Queue (though the filter bar doesn’t work yet :-S):

Finally a queue! :-)

It’ll all be here in a couple of days.

Cheers!

Hey,

Here’s a quick preview of the new search I’m working on :-)

Since the Download Queue is pretty boring atm I’ll upload some pictures of that later.

Progress

Hey,

I hope that the client is working for the ones that have tried it. I should probably start spreading the word that there’s a new client in town, so I can get some reports on how it’s working.
Anyway, the Download Queue is almost finished, and with it I’ve changed the way data is exchanged between the server and the client.
It’s a XML-ish syntax, but it doesn’t depend on any xml-lib. As far as I can tell it’s working really well and I will change all the other parts of the client to this with time, and by doing this the C++ dependency on the Mac OS X client will finally be gone.

Keep reading here for updates :-)

Cheers

Initial upload

Hey

I’ve finally managed to upload my entire tree to sourceforge. It’s a bit of a mess in there right now, but I will clean it as soon as I can.
The mess is mostly caused by yassl, since I just uploaded the source as I downloaded it, which isn’t really necessary. I hope I can include it in the multidcppserver Xcode-project and Makefile later, so you don’t have to install that separately.

Either way, this release isn’t about finding graphical errors or anything, I know there are some of them, but there will be a time when they will be sought out and fixed.

The info I need now is whether it actually works for you, and if there’s anything that makes the client/server crash. Plus, if you find a bug and you know how to fix it you’re more than welcome to do so and send me a patch :-)

Remember that this alpha version is quite feature-incomplete, but you can do these things with it:

  • Connect to a server from a remote location
  • Download a public hubs list, and connect to it
  • Quick connect to a hub with a url
  • Chat in the main-chat of the hubs (probably :-))
  • Receive private messages, but not respond (yet)
  • View transfers (upload and download)
  • Search for files (this is the only place to download files form atm)
  • Change some basic settings

Feel free to talk about this alpha version in forums.

Hopefully it will work for you :-)

Cheers!

So, I guess I’m not very good at keeping my word, considering the last post I wrote.
Anyway, I’ve got a shitload of stuff in school right now, so I can’t upload the Alpha that I wanted. But I will probably upload it either way, and hope that some good soul can help me while I’m busy.
The things that needs to be done:
* Makefile for the server. (for *nix)
* Make the multidcppserver-target in Xcode a legacy application and not a ‘.app’. (Mac OS X)
* Make a GUI / daemon for the server, so you can run the server without using screen or having a separate terminal for it. (*nix and Mac OS X)
– The things above would be nice since it would make the client easier to use.
– The things below is what will change in the future.
* Add all settings
* Add Filelist Browser
* Add Download Queue
* Cleaning up the code, making the client a pure Cocoa app.
* Follow the Apple HIG more closely. (Though I like the ‘Mini’-size of Mac OS X’s widgets.)
* Redesign of the search-tab to look more integrated with Mac OS X.
* Redesign of the transfer-view.
* Redesign of the controller (that handles all the events from the server), there’s probably a cleaner way out there.

etc.

Cheers

Almost there…

Hey,

So Alpha 1 (v1) is almost ready for a release, all the features that I wanted for the first alpha is there, I’m just fine-tuning the communication between the GUI and the server and some other small stuff, so I’ll hopefully release it this week.

Sorry for all the delays and such, but there’s been quite a few really annoying bugs that’s take their fair share of time to solve. But I’m almost there, just hang out for a little while longer.
Cheers
